Hi, I'm Karah.
The biggest joy in design is seeing my artwork out in the world: on a storefront sign, a package, a billboard, or social media. That's what I get to do every day at Sugar Valley Creative, and it never gets old.
I've been a designer since 2004, with years spent in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry, where I sharpened my spatial and business skills.
That experience taught me something that shapes how I work today: designing buildings is not far off from building brands. Both start with a solid foundation, a thoughtful plan, and craftsmanship at every stage.
The name Sugar Valley comes from the place I grew up in Western Nebraska, where generations of my family worked in the sugar beet industry. I named my business after it because I believe the best brands are built the same way: rooted in a real story.

My process starts with an in-depth discovery session, because I need to understand your business, your goals, and your audience before a single design decision is made. This is what separates a brand that works from one that just looks good.
What it's like to work with me.
We start with a conversation, or a detailed questionnaire if you prefer. I want to understand your business, your goals, your audience, and your competition before anything else happens. This step costs you nothing and commits you to nothing.
I dig into what you already have: your existing visuals, website, social media, and messaging, and look hard at your competitive landscape. This is where I find the white space your brand can own.
This is the foundation everything else is built on. We define your brand's purpose, personality, voice, and the unique value that makes you different. You'll walk away with a clear message framework before a single design decision is made.
Before I touch a logo, I build a visual world for your brand: colors, typography, photography style, mood, and texture. You'll see 2 to 3 distinct directions and choose the one that feels right.
Now the visual work begins. I explore concepts based on the approved direction, refine them with your feedback, and deliver a complete logo suite: primary logo, secondary logo, alternate layouts, and a submark or icon.
Your brand comes to life across every touchpoint: business cards, social media templates, packaging, signage, email signatures, and more.
You receive a comprehensive brand guidelines PDF and a fully organized file library with every logo variation in every format you'll ever need (AI, EPS, PNG, JPG, PDF, SVG).
